REC Silicon's silicon production will be reduced to 50% of capacity at the Moses Lake plant starting in October.

REC Silicon's silicon production will be reduced to 50% of capacity at the Moses Lake plant starting in October. This is a consequence of the global overproduction of silicon and the stocks already built up.Third quarter sales will be down 30% to 37% (between $45 million and $50 million), while the volume sold was 1,800 tonnes for silicon production of 3,900 tonnes.
These poor market conditions are prompting the company to delay construction of the Yulin plant (Shaanxi, China), which could jeopardize its agreement with the Chinese partner.
