Renewable electricity accounted for 26% of French electricity consumption in the second quarter of 2016. This high rate is due to exceptional hydroelectricity production in the spring. At the end of June, the renewable electricity generation fleet totalled 44.7 GW, i.e. 87% of the 2018 target indicated by the multi-year investment programme.

168 MW of solar power were connected in thesecond quarter, bringing the total power to 6,547 MW. Over the last 12 months, the metropolitan park has increased by 15% with 845 MW connected. This park produced 7.7 TWh of solar energy over the last 12 months (+16%). Solar energy production covered 1.6% of electricity consumption over the last 12 months, a rate similar to that observed at the end of 2015.
