The European Commission (EC) has awarded €65 million to 17 renewable technology projects

The European Commission (EC) has awarded €65 million to 17 renewable technology projects to expand their activities. In particular, it has selected

an agrivoltaic solar energy project in France and thermal energy storage projects in France and Denmark.

Sun'Agri has been selected to design, build and deploy a system of "protective nets" to cover the six hectares of an agrivoltaic project in France.

Earlier in 2023, the Commission estimated that the construction of agrivoltaic projects on 1% of European farmland would enable Europe to meet its photovoltaic solar targets by the end of the decade, underlining the potential benefits of this technology.

Another project selected in France is Mitigat, developed by Eco-Tech Ceram. This is a multi-energy smart grid that will use a combination of heat storage, renewable energy-to-heat conversion and long-term energy storage. This project will seek to respond to the variability inherent in renewable energy production.

Editor's note It seems that the Commission is in a hurry to get all the current dossiers out before the end of its mandate.
