In brief: free space for PV installations in Belgium and the Netherlands
According to Belgian grid operator Elia, there is still sufficient free capacity
for 3.3 GW of solar energy and 2.8 GW of storage, in addition to existing capacity already reserved. The country currently has around 8.3 GW of installed solar power and 0.2 GW of storage capacity. The map also shows the capacity available for flexible connections.
Using flexibility limited to 5%, there could be two to three times more space on the grid, says Elia.
