The demand for energy in California requires increasing production
In California, peak solar production and peak demand are increasing because of the need for air conditioning. This increase at different times has to be balanced by energy storage.
The "duck curve" is an illustration of how the electricity network works. It reflects the mismatch between peak solar production (from midday to the afternoon) and peak electricity demand (in the late afternoon and evening).
