The two founders of Urbasolar, Stéphanie Andrieu and Arnaud Mine, are leaving the company

The two founders of Urbasolar, Stéphanie Andrieu and Arnaud Mine, are leaving the company after having, since 2006, put into operation

1 gigawatt, on 650 power plants on all types of surfaces, and expanded the business to many countries. The company generated sales of €304 million in the year to 30 April 2022, employs 450 people and has 6 GW of projects under development.

The takeover by Switzerland's Axpo in July 2019 opens up new horizons, as the aim is to reach 10 GW of photovoltaic power plants in Europe by 2030. The founders have been replaced by Antoine Millioud as Managing Director and by two Deputy Managing Directors, Gilles Amendola and Paul Keurinck.

Editor's note The page of the pioneers is being turned a little more in favour of the "energy institutions". The founders were able to launch their company and develop their portfolio of projects (Urbasolar was one of the best winners of the calls for tenders), but they came up against the cost of building the various power plants, which required a larger financial base. They had to call in an institution that wanted total control of the company. If there was the slightest difference, or if the portfolio did not generate sufficient profits, the managers who were capable of innovating, launching and driving the company had to make way for people from other backgrounds.

The two founders have achieved a great deal. Well done to them.
