The expansion of Indian industry

The Indian government's 'Approved List of Manufacturers and Models' (ALMM) has exceeded 18 GW of capacity. 66 different entities were registered by the end of August,

according to JMK Research & Analytics. This is still insufficient to cover the 20 GW of capacity expected to be installed this year in India.

Since the list was first updated in March 2021, capacity has more than doubled from 8.2 GW to 18 GW by August 2022, while the manufacturers listed have almost tripled from 23 to 66.

For high power panels (400 Wp or more) which are favoured in commercial and industrial (C&I) projects, there were only four manufacturers in March 2021; there are eleven in August 2022 with a capacity of 6 to 7 GW.
