Solar and wind generation in the United States exceeds nuclear generation
In April, solar and wind power installations in the United States produced more electricity than the country's nuclear power plants for the first time. They accounted for 29.3% of US electricity production.
Solar production
in the United States between January and April 2022 increased by 29% compared with the previous year, while coal-fired generation fell by 4% and nuclear by 2%.
Coal remains the dominant fuel for electricity generation worldwide in 2021, with its share rising to 36% from 35.1% the previous year.
