R&D highlights: FuturaSun, 3D-Micromac, perovskite passivation, CdTe backside
The Italian company FuturaSun is extending the range of colours of its SILK® Pro monocrystalline panel composed of 120 multi-busbar PERC cells,
semi-cut, 250 Wp. To the black panel he adds silver, orange and red.

The German supplier 3D-Micromac AG has developed a new laser cutting system for halved and shingled photovoltaic cells. The machine can produce more than 6,000 wafers per hour. It is suitable for solar cells with temperature-sensitive coatings, or for deposits such as heterojunction devices.

International scientists have tested a new approach to defect passivation in perovskite solar cells. The passivation layers, deposited on the perovskite material, play a key role in reducing defects and unwanted reactions within the material. Efficiency reaches 21.4% on a 26 cm² substrate

382 Toledo
While the front side of CdTe thin cells has been well improved, the back side has not been the subject of much study, hence the interest of those from the University of Toledo, USA. The University of Toledo in the USA has shown that the incorporation of solution treated copper aluminium oxide (CuxAlOy) would improve performance. Efficiency increases from 16.5% to 17.4%. Further improvements are likely.
