Iran also has solar ambitions

Iran is going to authorise the construction of one gigawatt of solar and wind power in March and plans to install 5 GW within ten years. A repurchase programme will be announced soon.
At the same time, Iran wants to develop a photovoltaic industry: projects using national content will receive a 35% bonus. For the moment, a panel production capacity of 50 MW exists. Apart from the lack of experience in manufacturing, the lack of financing is another obstacle. The purchase price is denominated in Iranian rials, which leaves investors with the risk of inflation and foreign exchange. Bloomberg estimates that 60 MW of solar power will be installed in Iran in 2016, and that a target of 540 MW is possible by 2020
