LONGi believes that current silicon and wafer prices are correct

After a 15% increase in wafer prices in the third quarter, the president of LONGi believes that this level is now reasonable to keep the PV supply chain in good working order. He believes that this is a reaction to the fall in prices in the first half of the year that occurred during the pandemic.

He even dares to make a prediction: the development of solar energy in the world will lead to an annual installation of 1,000 GWC in 2030, i.e. ten times the installations that will be made in 2020.

LONGi has installed furnaces to produce any format of silicon ingots in-house. It has a current wafer production capacity of 75 GWp. The company has developed energy storage based on chemical products or hydrogen.

Editor's note That a silicon manufacturer believes that the prices are too low, nothing could be more normal. Just for a monosilicon price of 100 RMB on the market, Daqo's (and probably also LONGi's) production costs are around 50 RMB / kg ($7.30 per kg). This indicates that there is a margin of decline on current prices. This will be reflected in the price of wafers, but manufacturers do not report on their production costs or wafer prices.
