Producer prices on 26 August

The prices of 26 August :

The trend according to EnergyTrend The shortage of raw materials could ease in September. Inflation would gradually stabilise in the supply chain.

The trend according to PV InfoLink The upward trend in platelet prices has slowed down; cell prices are showing signs of weakness.

Silicon :

According to EnergyTrend Silicon prices continue to rise, reaching record highs. Monosilicon has been readjusted between 92 and 102 RMB / kg. The price of multicrystalline has climbed in the range 65 - 72 RMB / kg. This increase is due to the cessation of activity of some producers and an increase in the cost of transport. This increase should gradually decrease after this week due to the resumption of production and deliveries.

Downstream users are less and less accepting of this price increase.

According to PV InfoLink The major silicon producers have just reached agreements for the price of silicon for the month of September. They have benefited from a favourable context where the price of monosilicon is high. It has risen by 4 RMB / kg to reach 93 to 96 RMB / kg (and 94 RMB in average price). Some producers even offered prices above 100 RMB/kg, but with very few contracts signed. This price trend is due to the fact that several producers have been working at full capacity since July, that production lines have been stopped at Yongxiang Leshan, and that some at Ordos have produced less than expected. The shortage of monosilicon has worsened. Foreign producers are working at full capacity. The price of silicon is not expected to jump.

The price of multisilicon has risen a little, but less than that of monocrystalline because buyers have reduced their demand. The price is between 64 and 68 RMB per kg, with an average price of 66 RMB / kg.

Abroad, the price of monosilicon has fluctuated between $10.2 and $10.7 / kg; that of multicrystalline at $7.2 and $7.7 / kg.

Brochures :

According to EnergyTrend Prices stabilise after increases and exchange rate changes for deliveries abroad. Overall domestic quotations remain unchanged. Domestic prices for G1 and M6 mono-Si wafers remain at 2.95-3.1 RMB/PC and 3.1-3.25 RMB/PC respectively, and the average price is maintained at 0.2 RMB/PC.

Most companies have started to negotiate prices for September. There is a wait-and-see attitude on prices because on the one hand there is an increase in the price of wafers and on the other hand there is less demand.

According to PV InfoLink The incidents in two silicon factories in July raised fears of a shortage of silicon, hence its increase for wafer producers, which was reflected in the selling price of monosilicon wafers. Gradually, the production of monosilicon wafers is resuming. LONGi maintained its prices on 25 August. Mono-Si wafers were worth between 2.87 and 3.08 RMB / piece for G1 and between 3.02 and 3.23 RMB / piece for M6 in China. In foreign markets, the price was $0.383 - $0.387 / piece for G1 and $0.402 - $0.406 / piece for M6.

Multi-Si wafer prices remained stable this week, trading at 1.55 - 1.65 RMB / piece and 1.6 RMB / piece on average in China and at $0.2 - $0.205 / piece and $0.203 / piece on average in overseas markets.

The cells :

According to EnergyTrend The cell market has suffered on the one hand from the price increase linked to that of wafers, and on the other hand from the impossibility of passing on these increases to the panel manufacturers. The price of G1 cells has reached the price of M6 format. The average price reached 0.930 RMB/W.

For September, panel manufacturers have noticed that the purchase price of cells is significantly lower than the quotations due to price pressure from tier 2 and 3 manufacturers. The rise in the price of monosilicon cells has prompted buyers to turn to multicrystalline cells, which has supported demand for this product.

According to PV InfoLink Tongwei prices of 25 August indicate a halt to the rise. Mono cells are worth 0.97 RMB / W for G1 and M6 formats. The price of multicrystalline cells is 0.62 RMB / W. The price of cells has decreased this week as buyers have reduced their purchases. The price of G1 cells plunged this week due to already built up stocks - from 0.9 - 0.91 RMB / W to 0.88 RMB / W in China and 0.115-0.117 $ / W in foreign markets. M6 cell prices fell from 0.01 RMB/W this week to 0.91 - 0.92 RMB/W due to downward pressure on module manufacturers' prices. The average M6 cell price abroad also decreased in the same week to 0.121 - 0.122 RMB/W.

Prices for multi-Si cells fell to 2.6 - 2.65 RMB/piece as multi-crystalline demand declines. This is particularly true of Indian demand.

The panels :

According to EnergyTrend : Panel prices have stabilised this week, as developers are not prepared to raise the purchase price. Some manufacturers have decided to reduce their production, which has kept prices stable: panels from 325 W to 385 W are priced at 1.53 - 1.65 RMB / W, with an average price of 1.56 RMB / W.

Prices were maintained at $0.202-0.325 / W due to the bottleneck in the domestic supply chain, but the pandemic had an effect. While there have been fewer cases of coronavirus in the US and Brazil, India is seeing an increase in diagnosed cases, while Spain, Japan and Korea are experiencing a rebound in diagnosed cases. This has led to an expansion of restrictive measures for certain countries, which could lead to fluctuations in the photovoltaic market in the short term.

According to PV InfoLinkthe price of cells has decreased due to the reluctance of buyers on the one hand, and the price of glass has increased on the other hand. The trend in panel prices in the 4th quarter is not easy to detect. The price of single-sided, monocrystalline panels with M6 wafers was between 1.57 and 1.67 RMB/ W. Two-sided panels were at least 1.7 RMB / W.

The developers are in no hurry to connect to the grid in China or abroad. They are waiting for a price reduction. This exerts downward pressure.
