Panel prices fall thanks to coronavirus

Weak global demand for solar panels and batteries is driving down the costs of US systems faster than expected. The decline in prices for mono-PERC solar systems for large utility plants is expected to drop by

20% between 2020 and 2025. This decline is greater than if there had been no coronavirus, says Wood Mackenzie.

In the short term, there is a risk of over-abundance of batteries, particularly among Chinese suppliers. After 2022, the market will start to rebound and should return to normal.
