CdTe panels have the lowest carbon footprint

Australian researchers have found that cadmium telluride solar panels have the lowest life-cycle impact, followed by silicon products.

amorphous, then multi-Si and monocrystalline. For this, they used 21 indicators focusing on single environmental problems.

CdTe's success stems from the lower consumption of materials and chemicals in its life cycle process.

Other photovoltaic technologies (CIGS, perovskite, organic PV, ...) will be studied and compared.

Editor's note Saying that CdTe technology has less impact on the environment than amorphous silicon products is not accurate enough: is there a small or large gap between the two? If the gap between the four technologies is very small, we might as well use monocrystalline panels!
