Taiwanese SAS saved by its semiconductor subsidiary
In thefirst quarter, the Taiwanese wafer and panel manufacturer Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) posted consolidated sales of NT$15.3 billion.
including 88% from its 51%-owned subsidiary producing semiconductor wafers. Net income of NT$1,384 million (US$46 million) came almost exclusively from this subsidiary.
SAS specializes in the production of high-end cells, small panel manufacturing and power plant construction. During the quarter, there were no orders for solar cells or panels from abroad. They should come back in the 3rd quarter.
In the first four months of 2020, sales reached NT$20.1bn, down 12% on last year.
