GlobaData already lowers forecasts for installations in China

According to GlobaData, installations in China will not reach 40 GW, but only 33.4 GW due to the effects of the pandemic, compared to 30.1 GW in 2019. The developers

were unable to obtain supplies due to traffic restrictions and manufacturers' closures. The engineering firm believes that disruptions in the solar manufacturing sector are expected to lead to a shortage of panels and with the subsidy quota deadline fast approaching, many developers will face delays in completing projects and may abandon them altogether.

As soon as the Chinese economy shows nascent and early signs of recovery from the effects of the pandemic, the government can be expected to work to get the solar industry back on track. »

Editor's note No one doubts that the containment and shutdown of the activity has disrupted the installations. However, it is likely that the pace of construction has already resumed and that its acceleration in the second half of the year will allow the planned level to be reached. It is too early to reduce the 2020 forecast for facilities in China.
