Water desalination will be much cheaper in 30 years' time

The updated global average cost of drinking water (LCOW) from desalination plants could rise from around 2.40 € / m3 in 2015 to1.05 € in 2050 if solar energy is used,

Storage systems and other renewable energies are used to decarbonise the sector. This is the result of a study by the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) in Finland. The cost of desalinated water in most regions could vary from €0.32 / m3 to €1.66 / m3 by 2050, including delivery costs. By the middle of the century, the levelized energy cost (LCOE) will increase from about €180 / MWh five years ago to about €50 by the middle of the century.

Editor's note What are these projections for 2050 worth? We don't have the hypotheses, and we can't do anything with them, because what matters are the human-sighted forecasts, five or ten years from now. So the authors of such studies are pleased, but it's useless.
