A German fleet of 200,000 storage systems

In Germany, the market for photovoltaic systems with domestic batteries has doubled in two years. EuPD Research estimates that around 65,000 solar systems with storage

were installed in 2019 thanks to the growing popularity of solar panels and electric vehicles, as well as rising electricity prices. This brought Germany to around 200,000 systems installed by the end of 2019.

Almost 90 per cent of last year's new solar installations were combined with a storage system, says EuPD.

Germany's Sonnen has a 20 per cent share of the residential storage market, ahead of China's BYD (19 per cent), Germany's E3/DC and Italy's Senec, which each have 14 per cent of the market, and Korea's LG Chem (12 per cent). These five players supplied 80% of the market
