Result of the call for tenders for capacity building to secure supply

The purpose of long-term auctions in France is to enable the development of capacity to secure the long-term supply of electricity. Winners will benefit from a guaranteed price over seven years under the capacity mechanism, for the commissioning of assets in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition has published the list of winners.

Storage absorbed two-thirds of the capacity: 253 MW of new storage capacity and 124 MW of new generation capacity were allocated during the purchase process. Only the periods 2021-27 and 2022-28 subscribed. The regulated price is €29,000 / MW and €28,000 / MW respectively. For the period 2021-2027, eight projects have been selected, for a total volume of 151.1 MW, including 93 MW of storage and 58.1 MW of production. For 2022-2028, an additional 225.7 MW have been allocated, of which 159.7 MW to battery systems and 66 MW to power plants.

"For each auction, the guaranteed price corresponds to the price offered by the selected bid, closest to the price of the demand curve. The demand curve reflects the value brought to the community, as determined by RTE. »

In terms of storage, Total, through its subsidiary BHC Energy, has gained 103 MW, of which 58 MW for the period 2021-2027 and 45 MW for 2022-2028. AFD7, a project company owned by Amarenco France, won a 75 MW project for the period 2022-2028, while RES won two 24 MW projects. Other winners of smaller projects, ranging from 1 MW to 7.6 MW, were ZE Energy, Valorem, Entech, Neoen, Aloe Energy and Innergex.
