Prices in the sector on December 4th

Presentation of EnergyTrend Market sentiment has not changed. Silicon stocks have increased further, prompting manufacturers to reduce their prices. Prices for mono-Si and multi-Si wafers continued their previous trend.

The low demand for cells and panels has maintained the previous trend. The demand for monosilicon should be maintained in order to alleviate the gloom of the sector. The surplus of available multicrystalline products is hindering any positive development.

Silicon :

According to EnergyTrend : Silicon prices on the Chinese domestic market continued to fall due to high stocks. This is especially true for multicrystalline, which is sold below cost price. This obliges manufacturers to adapt their production system to the new market.

On the foreign market, the price is unchanged at $8.81 to $9.43/kg with an average revenue price of $9.02/kg. On the Chinese market, the mono-si is worth 70 to 76 RMB per kg with an average price of 72 RMB / kg. The price of multi-Si is 53 to 56 RMB / kg with an average price of 55 RMB.

According to PV InfoLink : End-market demand for multi-Si products persists; the price of silicon for multi-Si wafers has fallen by 1 RMB / kg this week.

Some monosilicon manufacturers have reduced their capacity utilisation rates or even closed them, putting further pressure on polysilicon manufacturers, who are already suffering from low stocks, to reduce their polysilicon prices. As a result, the price of polysilicon for multi-Si wafers has fallen to 58 RMB/kg, with some Tier 2 manufacturers offering lower prices in response to expectations of price reductions raised by customers further down the supply chain in early December. This price cut has not increased demand for multi-crystalline. The fall in multi-crystalline silicon prices is expected to reach 1 to 2 RMB / kg.

The price of monosilicon has stabilised as a result of the December list price of 73 RMB / kg. A limited decline of 1 to 2 RMB could occur because the supply of monosilicon has slightly increased with the end of maintenance of some installations and because manufacturers want to reduce their stocks by the end of December.

Overseas, the price of monosilicon fell by $0.1/kg, despite slight variations in exchange rates. The price of multicrystalline decreased. Supply remained stable in December as one manufacturer stopped production, which was offset by the commissioning of new capacity by Daqo New Energy.

Brochures :

According to EnergyTrend : The price of mono-Si wafers has remained stable. Some orders have reduced the offer. For multicrystalline wafers, the price continues to fall, despite the fact that half of the manufacturers of this type of product have stopped production.

The price of multi-Si wafers abroad is currently between $0.201 and $0.205 / pc. The price of the 156.75 mm mono-Si wafer is between 0.395 and 0.421 / Pc, with an unchanged average price of $0.403 / Pc. The price of the large size (158.75 mm) is $0.425 - $0.460 / Pc, with an unchanged average price of $0.455 / Pc. The price for wafers of 161.75 mm and larger is $0.470 / Pc.

In the domestic market, the price of 156.75 mm multi-Si wafers is between 1.73 and 1.75 RMB / Pc. The price of various monosilicon wafers is unchanged.

According to PV InfoLink : The price of multicrystalline wafers has fallen to 1.65 - 1.7 RMB / room. Some cell manufacturers have therefore started to develop medium efficiency products in order to maintain their utilisation rates at certain levels and reduce their costs.

The cost of multisilicon wafers could fall further by the end of 2019. Overseas prices for multi-Si wafers have fallen to $0.219 - $0.223/unit this week. Chinese mono-Si wafer prices have not changed much this week, with the market price for the wafer ranging from 2.95 to 3.06 RMB. The electricity shortage forced a major manufacturer to freeze production. This restriction could stabilise monosilicon wafer prices at 3.06 RMB / piece.

The cells :

According to EnergyTrend On foreign markets, some buyers have abandoned monosilicon in favour of multisilicon, which has made the latter more rare. Overall, the offer of mono-Si and multi-Si products has remained constant. In the overseas market the price of multicrystalline cells is $0.084 - $0.118 / W with an average price of $0.093 / W. The price of monosicilium wafers remains unchanged. The price of the standard format is $0.102 - $0.107 / W.

On the domestic market, the price remains unchanged.

According to PV InfoLink : Current cell prices have reached break-even at many producers. Multi-Si cells are still experiencing a price decline, with market prices between 2.85 and 2.9 RMB/unit or 0.62 RMB/W this week and even lower. Tier 1 multi-Si cell manufacturers operating at full capacity still have large inventories to contract; however, they are struggling to do so as demand for multi-Si remains stagnant and multi-Si prices are still falling.

China's still-low multi-Si prices continue to weigh on overseas, with their overseas trading price hovering around $0.08/W or at slightly lower levels this week. Similarly, prices for multi-Si cell capacity in Southeast Asia fell below $0.1 / W.

panels :

According to EnergyTrend The trend is identical to that of the cells. On the foreign market, the prices of multi-Si panels have been revised upwards. On the domestic market, mono-Si panels have also remained stable, which has also followed the cell trend.

In the overseas market, the price of multi-Si (270 - 275W) is currently between $0.201 and $0.240 / W. The average price is rising to $0.205 / W. The price of the high efficiency multi-Si (280 - 285W) is between $0.210 and $0.235 / W with an unchanged average price of $0.215 / W. The price of the mono-Si (290 - 295 W) is $0.214 - $0.235 / W with an average price increased to $0.220 / W. The price of high-efficiency mono-Si (300 - 310 W) remains unchanged at $0.298 - $0.405 / W. The price of the higher efficiency mono-Si (> 310 W) remains unchanged at $0.233 - $0.385 / W. Its average price increases to $0.277 / W.

According to PV InfoLink Multi-Si panel prices have continued to fall this week: the market price of the panel has reached 1.58 - 1.65 RMB / W and continues to fall. The continuous fall in the price of multi-Si panels in China is spreading abroad, creating the fall in the price of multi-Si panels abroad.

The price of mono-PERC panels has stabilised in China. Overseas prices of single-PPC panels were depressed by a weaker than expected fourth quarter. Panel producers are successively reducing their prices for the first half of 2020.
