Bauer Solar, the German company, has launched a series of bifacial glass-to-glass panels rated at 420 W to 430 W with 108 N-type half-cells and an efficiency of 21.5% to 22.02%.

To cope with the heavy snowfalls (up to 2 or 3 metres) in Japan and to adapt to the lack of land, the Japanese subsidiary of the German company Luxor created an 8 kW system in the car park of a factory in the province of Niigata. The panels are positioned vertically to capture the reflectivity of the snow.

German scientists at ZSW have built a 9 square centimetre perovskite-CIGS tandem panel, with organometallic perovskites for the top panel. It has an efficiency of 21.1%. With smaller laboratory cells, ZSW has already achieved an efficiency of 26.6% for this combination of materials.

Polycab, the Indian company, presented compact, lightweight solar inverters with outputs ranging from 1 kW to 5 kW. Conversion efficiency has risen from 97.2% (and 96.5% for European efficiency) to 98.1 (97.3%).

US battery specialist Powin and US investment firm BlackRock have begun work on a 909 MW/1,915 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to be installed in Australia. Construction is due to start in 2023 and be completed by mid-2025.
