Proposal of solar panels for pedestrians
Hungarian Platio has developed a solar coating for outdoor applications in urban environments, houses, office buildings, shopping centres and public infrastructure.
It consists of 8.6 kg non-slip slabs of tempered glass. The 34 x 34 x 6.1 cm slab has four 15.6 × 15.6 cm cells for each module and an anti-reflective silicon nitride coating. The polycrystalline version of the cell has a nominal power rating of 158 W per square metre and an efficiency of 18.6%. The monocrystalline version has a power rating of 186 W per square metre and a cell efficiency of 22.0%. The list price is between 50 € and 80 € per unit depending on the type of product, quantity and market.
In terms of mechanical stress on the panels, the roadway can also support the load of a vehicle passing through or parking. The load-bearing layer is a recycled plastic composite with even more favourable physical properties than concrete. This makes the surface suitable for traffic. However, this product is mainly intended for pedestrian areas.
