Few facilities in the UK since April. Can private agreements revive plant construction?
The United Kingdom installed only 16 MW in July, after 1 GW installed in the first half of the year alone due to the end of the Renewable Bonds regime (March alone accounted for 884 MW installed), which gives little volume for the other months.

Brexit to penalise holders of RE assets in the UK
According to the consultancy firm EY, the European market for photovoltaic assets could be seriously affected by the British vote to leave the European Union. As long as the United Kingdom has not defined its energy policy, investors will be tempted to lose interest in buying power plants, especially in the UK.
There are interconnection networks between the continent and the island, through which energy is transmitted. Oxera's pre-voting study for the EU exit vote concluded that it would cost UK households £140m extra

A British study shows the considerable extra cost of nuclear power compared to solar power
A British government study estimates that the megawatt-hour produced by solar power in 2025 will cost between £50 and £75, while that produced by nuclear power at Hinkley Point will be between £85 and £125. This may explain the British decision to postpone the final decision. It should be remembered that nuclear electricity would have been sold on the basis of £92.50 per MWh. The study stresses that the cost of solar and wind power is falling steadily, while the cost of nuclear is rising steadily.

Editor's note Sticking to the figures, the British choice is quickly made. The abandonment of the construction of the Hinkley Point nuclear power station is certain. Nothing beats a good change of government to thoroughly review the contracts that seemed to have been taken for granted...

UK report analyses storage, demand-side solution, and interconnection with foreign electricity grids
The storage market in the UK has already been boosted by a 20 MW frequency response project and a forthcoming 200 MW tender. This call for tenders was postponed after the publication of the parliamentary report on energy. Three means have been analysed: storage, demand response, and interconnection with foreign power grids.

Situation of the UK energy market on the eve of the exit from Europe
Commentators wonder about the effects of Britain's exit from the European Union. Until now, the UK's energy policy was decided in London and not in Brussels. The electricity sector was liberalised in 1989. Since then, energy has been dominated by market forces alone, with natural gas predominating. The separation of generation assets and the transmission network advocated by the United Kingdom has been extended to the other countries of the Union. The Union's directive (the "third legislative package") of 2009, was considered in London as not very innovative.
