Tesla Motors reported last night a net loss of $229.9 million in the third quarter.
Penalised by high development costs, Tesla Motors reported last night a net loss of $229.9 million or $1.78 per share in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $74.7 million or 60 cents per share a year earlier. Excluding non-recurring items, the loss per share for the California-based electric car maker was 58 cents, 8 cents higher than analysts expected.
Sales grew 10 percent year-over-year to $936 million. On an adjusted basis, it came to 1.24 billion dollars, up 33%, in line with consensus expectations.
As for the construction of its 'giga-factory' in Nevada (west), a structure dedicated to the design of electric batteries, it is ahead of schedule and production could begin at the end of 2016. Tesla Energy has seen strong demand for its storage products in Australia, Germany and South Africa. It also highlighted India and the state of Hawaii in supplying the promising early battery storage markets

Taiwan's Motech returned to profit in Q3
Motech, the Taiwanese cell manufacturer, returned to profit in thethird quarter with an operating profit of NT$134 million, a net profit of NT$45 million, sales of NT$7,098 million ($216 million) and a gross margin of 7.3%
For the nine months, sales reached NT$16,424 million, a gross margin of 2.9%, an operating loss of NT$592 million and a net loss of NT$991 million (negative net margin of 6.0%).
In 2016, the company will set up a 200-300 MW panel manufacturing unit in Maanshan (central China).

SolarWorld increases deliveries by 25 per cent, revenues by 30 per cent and achieves operating profit in September
According to provisional data, for the first nine months, SolarWorld has increased its deliveries of panels and kits by 25 per cent to 755 MW. Consolidated turnover increased by 30% to €532 million. Income before depreciation, amortisation and provisions increased from €1.5m to €15m between 2014 and 2015. The group achieved a positive operating profit in September 2015, but recorded a loss of €18m in the first nine months (compared with a loss of €29m in 2014).
For the full year 2015, the company expects to deliver 1 GW, generate sales of €700m and achieve an operating profit in the fourth quarter.

Scatec Solar is profitable in the third quarter of the year
In thethird quarter, Norway's Scatec Solar generated sales of NOK 204 million or $24 million (= in thesecond quarter) for 107 MWh produced (compared with 74 MWh in 2014). Operating profit was NOK 113 million. Net profit was NOK 9 M.

Canadian Solar raises third quarter estimates
Canadian Solar is raising its estimate for the third quarter as a result of stronger than expected demand (deliveries will be between 1.18 and 1.23 GW compared to 1 GW expected, also at a higher than estimated price) and also due to the sale of 51% of the 200 MW Tranquillity project in California. As a result, sales will reach $805 to $815 million. The gross margin will be 12-14%

Reduction of the loss over nine months at Singulus
The equipment manufacturer Singulus indicates that revenue for the first nine months of 2015 will reach €57.7 million (+9%) and €28.5 million for thethird quarter (+26%). The operating loss was reduced to €13.9 million for the first nine months (compared with a loss of €38.7 million in 2014). The company is complaining of a shortfall in orders for Blu-ray machines, which has affected sales and results.
New orders for thethird quarter were €11.3m (compared with €23.2m in 2014). However, the order book stood at €40.7m at the end of September 2015, compared with €15.9m a year earlier.
