RTE publishes a 2023-2035 Generation Adequacy Report
RTE publishes the 2023-2035 Generation Adequacy Report, halfway towards the 2050 target. For solar energy, the various RTE scenarios range from a production of 65 TWh to 110 TWh by 2035, i.e. an installed capacity of 55 to 90 GW by that date, compared with 15.7 GW at the end of 2022.
RTE puts a figure on reindustrialisation and the fight against climate change, by complying with the Fit for 55, the European objective of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
At the moment, France still consumes over 60% of its energy in the form of fossil fuels. This means that we need to increase electrification. This would save €190 billion in fossil fuel costs by 2035. To achieve this, investment in generation and flexibility capacity needs to be tripled, from €25 billion to €35 billion a year. The long-term gross cost of producing a MWh should remain contained, i.e. at the same level as today.
RTE presents three scenarios: scenario A, the most desirable, calls for greater electrification and an increase in electricity consumption that could reach 580 to 640 TWh/year in 2035, compared with 460 TWh today, i.e. an increase of 10% to 40%.
Scenario B delays the achievement of climate targets by three to five years.
Scenario C would occur in the event of continued macroeconomic and geopolitical tensions.
Scenario A must be based on energy efficiency (with the renovation of buildings to save between 75 and 100 TWh per year), sobriety (which would save 25 TWh by 2035), renewable energies (the production of renewable electricity is necessary in all the scenarios: between 270 TWh minimum and, if possible, up to 320 TWh. For solar energy, the various scenarios range from a production of 65 TWh to 110 TWh by 2035, i.e. an installed capacity of 55 to 90 GW by that date, compared with 15.7 GW by the end of 2022) and nuclear power (an average production volume of 400 TWh per year should be targeted.

Individual self-consumption in France has doubled in two years
Repeated summer heatwaves and last winter's surge in electricity prices are leading French people to install more and more solar panels on their roofs: the number of self-consumption installations has more than doubled in two years, according to Enedis.
