The change in electrical standards at the exit of signs in the United States

It would be wrong not to pay attention to the changes to the American electricity code that will be required from 2017 in the states that have adopted these regulations. It will impose a quick cut-off at the panel output and an output power of 80 volts .

If power electronics manufacturers are happy about this, it is not certain that they will be the winners of this regulation. Other product categories, by adapting, could also be the winners of this legislation, such as so-called "intelligent" solar panels, inverters incorporating this cut-off functionality, etc.

What is certain is that we are moving towards greater safety for photovoltaic installations, whether residential, commercial or industrial. This legislation will sooner or later apply in Europe, which will see safer American products arrive, with economies of scale at a reasonable price. Inverter manufacturers have work ahead of them. Unless installers want to modify their installations within a few years, they will quickly integrate this concern into their recommendations to their customers.
