23.3 % with a HIT N-type solar cell
The Chinese Jinneng Clean Energy achieved an efficiency of 23.3% with an N-type HIT (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin Film) solar cell. The PV panel with 60 cells has an output power of
of 331 W, i.e. 40% more than panels with 60 polysilicon cells.
Currently, the main barrier to volume production of N-type HIT cells is that the equipment is expensive and cannot be used to manufacture other types of solar cells.
