Saft-Tadiran to equip heliostats
In Tadiran, SAFT's American subsidiary has been awarded a contract to supply batteries to power the motors of the reflecting mirrors or heliostats that will be installed in Israel. Thousands of individually adjustable heliostats follow the sun and reflect sunlight onto a boiler at the top of a tower. When concentrated sunlight strikes the solar receiver, it creates superheated steam which is used to turn a turbine and generate electricity.
