India asks WTO to examine domestic content requirements in eight US states

After India introduced a 5% domestic product clause in its facilities, the United States challenged this decision before the World Trade Organization and won at first instance. India has appealed the decision: the ruling will be issued in the coming weeks.
To weigh in on the decision or to urge the US to withdraw its complaint, India has just filed a WTO application on the alleged domestic content requirement and subsidies for the renewable energy sector in eight US states (Washington, California, Montana, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, Delaware and Minnesota). The United States and India now have 60 days to resolve the issue, failing which India may request that the case be taken to arbitration.
