French PV at the end of 2023; self-consumption

Enedis has published the figures for connections in France in 2023: over 200,000 installations, more than double the figure for 2022, and 3,135 MW of power connected over the year,

30% more than in 2022, the solar photovoltaic market is breaking new ground.

Self-consumption is growing fast: 1,122 MW in 2023, or more than a third of the photovoltaic capacity connected to the grid. By the end of 2023, photovoltaic power dedicated to self-consumption will reach 2,256 MW in France, compared with 17,209 MW of total photovoltaic power connected to the grid. Haute-Garonne is the most advanced department in this field, followed by Isère and Gironde.

Daniel Bour, Chairman of Enerplan, thanked all the players who had helped to make this report possible. He believes that 2024 will be far superior to these figures and expects more than 4 GW.

According to Roland Berger, individual self-consumption is set to grow by 36% a year in terms of installed capacity (from 2.3 GW today to 10.4 GW in 2028). Collective self-consumption is also growing, driven by consumer interest in locally produced green energy (peer-to-peer). It is expected to grow from 20 MW today to around 940 MW by 2028.
