A new use for solar panels to heat buildings
Specialising in the design of environmentally-friendly solar solutions (ovens, barbecues, vegetable dryers, etc.), French start-up Solar Brother has announced the launch of SunAéro: a solar heater that heats and renews the air in rooms of between 20 and 60m². With SunAéro, you can lower the thermostat on your conventional heating system by 3 to 5 degrees.
SunAéro is installed vertically or horizontally on the outside of a house facing the sun (ideally due south, or south-east, south-west) using modular panels that are mechanically fixed to the wall using quick-release fasteners. With its "Plug & Play" system, installation is very simple: once you've chosen the room you want to heat, all you have to do is drill 4 holes on the outside of the front of the room to fix the panel. It takes between 1 and 3 hours to carry out a turnkey installation, depending on whether it's wood or concrete. To help users, Solar Brother offers several options: video tutorial guides and tool hire for do-it-yourselfers, or a call-out to a Solar Brother-supported craftsman.
