Solar irradiation data for Europe in August
The UK averaged 110% of its normal irradiance in August, with values exceeding this figure in the north of the country. Spain and Portugal received
10 to 20% more than normal, due to reduced cloud cover, says Solcast (DNV group). The Iberian Peninsula recorded an average of more than 7 kWh/m² over the month as a whole, despite the impact of aerosols from forest fires and rain at the end of the month.
Most of Scandinavia only recorded 80% of its average irradiance for August. Central Europe recorded only 90%, stretching from France to Poland. In addition to the normal effects of jetstream clouds, these regions were affected at the start of the month by the cloud cover associated with Storm Hans.
