European reform of the electricity market
On 19 July, the European Parliament approved the reform of the European electricity market. Wider use
Contracts for Difference (CfDs) will facilitate the development of renewable energies. With a CfD, the public authorities would compensate energy producers in the event of a sharp fall in energy prices, while if prices are too high, they would collect payment from the energy producers.
