In brief in Europe: 2022 installations in Switzerland; in May in Germany

The Swiss Solar Association reports that PV installations will exceed one gigawatt in 2022,

supplying 1 TWh of electricity over the year. The growth rate was over 40%. Solar electricity already accounted for 5.8% of Switzerland's electricity supply, and today around 200,000 photovoltaic installations cover around 7% of electricity demand.

In May, 81,387 photovoltaic systems were commissioned in Germany, with a total capacity of 1,040 megawatts (MW). In the first five months of the current year, 4.97 GW were recorded. Extrapolated over the year, this would correspond to 11.9 GW. This would bring the total installed capacity across Germany to 84.4 GW by the end of the year.
