Obstacles to the development of heat pumps
The European Heat Pump Association and the European Climate Foundation have listed the following obstacles to the widespread use of heat pumps
initial and operating costs, lack of consumer information, supply chain bottlenecks, shortage of installers and inadequate integration of the electricity sector and the energy system.
The study points out that while at least 60% of heat pump manufacturing takes place in Europe, the industry still relies heavily on non-European manufacturers for critical components such as compressors.
