The off-grid market will develop strongly over the next few years: in 2015, more than a hundred companies will specialise either in solar lamps or solar kits. They have sold more than 20 million units, which corresponds to an investment of 511 million dollars, according to Bloomberg NEF. This satisfies a tiny minority of needs since 1.2 billion people have no access to grid electricity and are forced to buy paraffin, candles, oil, gas... to light up or recharge their mobile phones. About twenty companies provide electricity services mainly in Africa. Already, 30% of people living off-grid already have a solar product in their homes and need electricity
