This week's highlights as at 16 April 2023
Highlight :
For the past two years, the photovoltaic industry has been dominated by a shortage of silicon, and therefore by rising prices. It was only at the end of 2022 that prices began to fall as new production units came on stream. We can expect silicon and the other components of the industry to become more standardised as competitors emerge in the United States and India.
A detailed presentation of the silicon market has been made. We present it to our readers.
1st important point : l
With subsidies, the cost of hydrogen is at best $2.
2nd secondary point The rise in solar and wind power installations is increasing the share of renewable energies compared with fossil fuels. The former are becoming significant. They will begin to reduce the use of fossil fuels and the carbon content of electricity.
Optimism in the face of climate change
3rd point (subsidiary) The excesses of 2021-2022 are almost completely erased
The price of kWh in Germany is almost back to its mid-2021 level
Other interesting points :
Growing supply of wafers means that prices are likely to fall in the future
The growing importance of 182 mm and 210 mm formats in PV production in 2022-2023
A new product combining wind and solar power
