Turkey wants to protect its embryonic PV industry

In order to protect its emerging photovoltaic industry, Turkey has set a minimum import price of $60/kg for solar cell imports.

Any imports at a lower price would be subject to duty.

There are currently two manufacturers in Turkey producing or planning to produce solar cells: Kalyon Solar Technologies in Ankara and Smart Solar Technologies in Izmir

Editor's note: The measure will not stand, as the Chinese will announce prices above $60/kg, and then discount the Turkish buyer. We saw this pattern during the EU's attempt to control the flow of Chinese products into the EU.
