The French Senate has approved a number of measures to stimulate the deployment of renewable energies
- the obligation to cover buildings with solar panels
outdoor car parks. Those with between 80 and 400 spaces will have to be covered with photovoltaic solar panels within five years to comply with the new measure.
Larger car parks will have to implement the changes within three years.
This measure could add between 6.7 and 11 GW of solar capacity in the coming years (for an installed capacity of around 13 GW in France).
- 50% of non-residential roofs will have to be covered by solar photovoltaic panels, compared with 30% previously.
