TotalEnergies sets up in Brazil

TotalEnergies (TTE) and Casa dos Ventos (CDV), Brazil'sleading renewable energy developer, have created a joint venture (TTE 34%/CDV 66%) to develop, build and operate Casa Dos Ventos' portfolio of renewable energy projects.

The portfolio of Brazilian industrialist Casa dos Ventos includes 700 MW of onshore wind capacity in operation, 1 GW of onshore wind under construction, as well as 2.8 GW of onshore wind and 1.6 GW of solar projects at an advanced stage of development (COD within 5 years). This new association (JV) will have the right to acquire existing and new projects that are or will be developed by CDV once they have reached the execution stage. This represents a total of 12 GW in operation, under construction and under development, in both wind and solar power.

TotalEnergies will pay a cash amount of $550 million (R$ 2,920 million) and an earn-out of up to $30 million (R$ 159 million) for the acquisition of a 34% stake in the JV. In addition, TotalEnergies will have the option to acquire a further 15% of the JV after 5 years.

TotalEnergies has just passed the milestone of 500 MW of solar production capacity on the sites of its B2B customers for self-consumption, with more than 300 sites of its industrial and commercial customers in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. TotalEnergies sells the green electricity it generates directly to its B2B customers through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). The company develops, finances, builds and operates solar panels installed on rooftops, shaded areas or vacant industrial land.
