Cell prices continue to rise amid a shortage in the industry

Silicon :

Little has changed. Prices are stable in the run-up to the bank holidays on October1. They remain between 303 and 306 RMB/kg.

The range of trading prices is widening. On the one hand, tighter supply is supporting prices in the short term. On the other hand, buyers seem to be more cautious, as the market is more in a wait-and-see mode.

Wafers :

Prices for 'a' grade (the best) mono-Si wafers, particularly from the major manufacturers, are holding up, as the overall production volume of mono-Si wafers could increase.

Prices for 210mm wafers are fluctuating on the spot market, due to limited growth in supply. Major manufacturers are holding prices at higher levels, while others appear cautious. Meanwhile, 182mm supply continues to grow rapidly. As a result, supply and demand for wafers in the two main formats are moving in opposite directions.

The price of 182mm "non-a" quality wafers continues to fall on the spot market and is falling more rapidly for other sales channels. The price differential between the two grades will intensify in October.

Cells :

Buying pressure from panel manufacturers combines with limited supply: prices for M10 and G12 cells rise to 1.32 RMB/W and 1.31 RMB/W. Prices for G12 cells are holding firm despite insufficient supply. M6 cell prices remain at last week's level due to lower demand.

Further price rises are likely, thanks to demand for M10 and G12 cells. Future price trends will depend on panel manufacturers' purchasing volumes. M6 is becoming a special specification. Its price trend is diverging from that of standard formats.

Panels :

Glass-glass panels over 500W are being delivered at 1.98-2.01 RMB/W this week, with a price difference of 0.01-0.03 RMB/W compared with glass-foil panels. In the fourth quarter, with the launch of ground-mounted projects in China, there is little change in panel prices. Prices fall for distributed projects. Some panel manufacturers are reportedly offering prices of 1.93-1.94 RMB/W.

Overall, panel prices are falling slightly on foreign markets. In Europe, the average panel price is holding steady at $0.27/W.
