18.6 GW installed last year in the United States

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that in 2021, panel "shipments" reached 28.8 GW. These "shipments" take into account imports, exports and production in the United States, according to the EIA. 80% of shipments made up

by imports, mainly from Asia. Half of the imports came from China, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam, 22% from South Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, 14% from Malaysia and 15% from other countries.

Despite rising material costs last year, the average value of solar panel shipments in the US was $0.34/kWp, 11% lower than in 2020.

18.6 GW installed in the US last year

Five US states accounted for 46% of all shipments: California, Texas, Florida, Georgia and Illinois.

The US installed 13.2 GW of large-scale plants (+25% on 2020) despite project delays, supply chain constraints and price volatility. Small-scale solar deployment reached 5.4 GW in 2021, up 23% on 2020, most of which was installed on homes.

Installations in early 2022 fell as a result of the study into circumvention of anti-dumping and countervailing duties by entities in South East Asia.
