Germany and India will not meet their 2030 targets

Germany and India will not meet their 2030 targets. German installations will fall from 59.6 GW at the end of 2021 to 132 GW at the end of 2031, while the government target is 215 GW

Underdevelopment in India

India's power grid and domestic solar generation capacity will hamper the solar sector's ability to expand rapidly, warned research firm Fitch, which expects the country "to fall short" of its target of 300 GW of solar power deployed by 2030.Fitch, which expects the country "to fall significantly short" of its target of 300 GW of solar power deployed by 2030. Its installation forecast is well below work published earlier this year by the think tank Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) and consultancy JMK Research & Analytics. Fitch says this is due to rising equipment costs and logistical challenges being a short-term problem.

PV Tech of 16 June 2022

Editor's note: Not only Germany and India will not reach their target, but also all countries with the ambition to install a very large amount of solar or wind power plants quickly. In general, the public does not really want to accelerate installations from the current pace (there is no daily need). In particular, there is no guarantee that there will be panels for everyone because of production restrictions, transport problems and difficulties in finding available space and manpower

There is a will in some circles to develop solar energy widely, but the reality is stubborn and creates an obstacle that is difficult to overcome.
