From Italy (3.7 GW in 2022?), Germany (553 MW and 650 MW), Austria

Italy's Minister for Economic Development, Roberto Cingolani, predicts that around 5.1 GW of new renewable energy capacity will be connected in Italy this year, including 3.4 GW of solar power.

This impressive growth should be triggered by more favourable authorisation processes.

Italy has deployed 937 MW of new photovoltaic systems in 2021. Its cumulative installed solar capacity reached 22.6 GW at the end of December.

Construction of a 650 MW solar power plant has just begun in Germany (south of Leipzig). The project will require a total area of 500 hectares and a further 150 hectares of compensatory land. The project will use 1.1 million solar panels and will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2023. Production will be sold to industrial customers under power purchase agreements.
