France commissioned 484 MW of solar power in the1st quarter, compared with 736 MW a year earlier. Installations of more than 250 kW accounted for around 47% of new solar capacity. Installations with a capacity of less than 9 kW

accounted for 86% of the number of newly connected units and 13% of all new capacity.

France reached a cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity of 14.6 GW at the end of March, including 13.8 GW in mainland France. The cumulative capacity of solar projects awaiting connection to the grid has risen by 16% since the start of the year, to 13.4 GW, including 2.9 GW with signed connection agreements.

This slowdown in newly connected capacity is explained by a lower proportion of high-power plant connections during the quarter. Solar photovoltaic electricity generation totalled 3.2 TWh in the first quarter of 2022, up 31% on the first quarter of 2021. It represents 2.2% of French electricity consumption over this period.
