Trends in the sector according to PV InfoLink on 13 April :

The trend according to PV InfoLink on 13 April:

Silicon :

On the one hand, silicon manufacturers continue to bring new production capacity on stream. On the other, programmes to overhaul production equipment have begun, reducing production capacity. As a result, there is strong demand for ingots that cannot be met.

Silicon prices rose to 242 - 248 RMB/kg. Average trade prices between major manufacturers rose to RMB 247/kg. Sporadic order prices rose more sharply to RMB 251-253/kg.

The pandemic and regulations in China are affecting long-distance transport, resulting in a shortage of materials for all sectors. Against this backdrop, the mismatch between upstream supply and demand is exacerbated.

Wafers :

Prices are rising steadily: Zhonghuan raised its prices on 2 April, LONGi on 13 April. Other manufacturers followed suit. The 182 mm/160 µm format reached a price of 6.85 RMB/piece, and exceeded the 6.81 RMB/piece of October 2021 when the thickness was 165 µm.

Cells:

Cell prices rose this week. At the same time, shipments of cells and panels have been disrupted by the worsening of the pandemic. Current prices for M6, M10 and G12 cells are 1.12 RMB/W, 1.16 RMB/W and 1.17 RMB/W respectively. Actual prices are subject to negotiation with panel manufacturers. Several panel manufacturers have started to accept prices of between 1.1 and 1.11 RMB/W for the M6 format, between 1.15 and 1.16 RMB/W for the M10 and between 1.16 and 1.17 RMB/W for the G12, which has led to an increase in average prices this week.

Some rush orders are being delivered at 1.16 RMB/W. Due to rising production costs, G12 cell prices could exceed RMB/W 1.16-1.17 this week.

Panels:

The pandemic continues in China and is hitting logistics hard. The logistical bottleneck is making it difficult for end-users to access panels and is intensifying the shortage of inverters. Panel manufacturers are continuing to actively purchase raw materials, fearing that supplies will be disrupted in the future. At the moment, some manufacturers are experiencing shortages of glass and junction boxes. Against this backdrop, BoM prices are rising accordingly. EVA prices could rise in the second half of April.

Utility projects are experiencing price increases for panels, which could affect average prices next week. Currently, prices for large-format glass-foil panels are between RMB1.85 and RMB1.87/W, with an average of RMB1.87/W, for large power plants, and between RMB1.9 and RMB1.93/W, with an average of RMB1.9/W, for residential installations. Current prices for glass panels over 500 W range from 0.02 to 0.04 RMB, with stable price differences.

In Europe, prices for sporadic orders are rising slightly to $0.29-0.23/W. But prices for glass-foil panels over 500 W remain at $0.27-0.275/W. Prices for distributed residential projects stand at $0.28-0.29/W.
