A huge volume of renewable energy projects in the pipeline in the United States

The United States has almost one terawatt (1,000 gigawatts) of renewable energy waiting to be connected to the grid.

(including 676 GW of solar), as well as 427 GW of storage. According to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), renewable energies and storage are experiencing the fastest growth in the queue, as well as one of the lowest connection rates,

Much of the capacity in the queue will not be built in the end: between 2000 and 2016, three-quarters of it was abandoned.

Editor's note The backlog is considerable, probably ten times the capacity installed since the beginning and 50 times the installations in 2021. It should therefore come as no surprise that many projects have been abandoned.

It would be important to determine what is preventing these projects from going ahead, but the article does not say.
