Photowatt + Axcentive = new panel coating
Solar panel manufacturer Photowatt and French chemical company Axcentive have developed a photovoltaic panel coating (called Exocoat) based on photo-active nanotechnology. The super-hydrophilic surface
of the panel allows water to spread immediately over the surface, avoiding the light-scattering effects of rain. The super-hydrophilic surface enhances the self-cleaning effect by allowing water to run underneath dirt and remove it by gravitational forces. "Under the effect of light radiation, the coating creates radicals that break down any soil or organic contamination. Airborne particles such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitric oxide (NOx) are also eradicated."
