Spain has regulated the use of lakes for solar panels.

Spain has regulated the occupation of lakes by solar panels. The amount of water surface area that PV projects can occupy, depending on

water quality below the installation is 5%, 15% or 20%. In all cases, a maximum of three individual projects will be authorised in the same location. It may be requested that these be installed progressively in order to ensure that environmental impacts are respected and to avoid damage to reservoirs. Licences granted will not exceed 25 years.

Monitoring will be carried out to study any environmental impact and the operation of the technology.

The Spanish government has decided to fast-track approval for photovoltaic projects of up to 150 MW.
