An excellent year for BayWa r.e., but the accounts are for another day.
In 2021, Germany's BayWa r.e. sold 500 MW of solar and wind farms in markets such as Poland and Spain. The company's energy solutions division has achieved a record number of
68 projects in 2021, including the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) for what it said was Poland's first unsubsidised solar farm.
Despite ongoing supply chain disruptions, the company's solar distribution unit has sold "several gigawatts" of panels and inverters in 2021, increasing revenues by more than 60% over 2020.
The arrival of an investor, Energy Infrastructure Partners, which has acquired a 49% stake in the company, has contributed to BayWa r.e. posting "exceptional results" in 2021.
By 2022, the company aims to double its solar and wind power plants to 1 GW, with a focus on non-subsidised projects.
